Black Bear HuntsWe conduct 13 black bear (10 rifle and 3 archery) hunts in zone 511 in the east Slave Lake region of northern Alberta. This zone is widely recognized as having one of the highest densities of colour phase black bear in Alberta. Colours range from pure black to black with white markings, cinnamon, blonde, chocolate brown, red, and tan. This large zone extends from Lesser Slave Lake on the west to the Pelican Mountains on the east, Wabasca to the north and to the Athabasca River on the south. Almost totally non-agricultural, this zone consists largely of boreal forest which supports a very high and ever increasing population of black bear. This high density along with natural bait areas ensures high opportunity rates for harvesting big black bear. As well as being a "two" bear unit, this zone is also a "spot and stalk", no bait area. All hunts are fair chase, spot and stalk. Hunts are conducted by ATV, on foot, and by water, depending on river levels in mid-May. Contact us for availability, pricing, and exact dates.
